Centre Park Historic District Gourmet Garden Tour

The 25th Annual Gourmet Garden Tour will feature 7 properties that span the entire Historic District including one property featured by the Reading Eagle as the Garden of the Week last year. One of Centre Park Historic District’s premiere events, the tour will take place this year on Saturday, June 23rd from 4pm to 8pm. This year’s tour spans the length of the District, allowing visitors a true tour of this unique neighborhood. For tickets please visit www.centreparkhistoricdistrict.org
The self-guided tour includes seven Centre Park Historic District gardens where guests will be treated to a signature food tasting from a local restaurant with a complimentary beer or wine pairing for tourists 21 years and older. As an added bonus, tour-goers will be invited into the first floor of one of the homes.
Visitors will sample delights from Wild Sage, Thaiwat, Vegetarian’s Delight Cafe, Sofritos, Reading Distilling Guild and Coach’s Beer and Soda. There will also be a dessert garden sponsored by Tompkins VIST Bank. Raffle tickets will also be available for purchase for the chance to win one of two ‘Tastes of the Tour’ baskets valued at $150 and including restaurant gift cards and products from participating businesses.
The Pete Souders Duo will provide jazz in Centre Park during the tour for visitors looking to take a break from the walk. The Centre Park Flute Quartet will also be playing during the tour at one of the premiere properties. Calvary UCC will also feature musical selections from church members and friends. Guests will also enjoy live music both inside and outside Feeney Funeral Home, where there will be a butterfly release at 6 p.m.
The Artifacts Bank, located at 707 North 5th Street in the Centre Park Historic District Headquarters building, will be open for the duration of the tour. The Artifacts Bank carries salvaged, donated and consigned items from building demolitions, renovations and rehab projects for sale to the public.

Garden Tour to showcase the hard work and creativity that make beautiful city gardens genuine labors of love. From lush and elaborate earthly paradises to pocket-sized wonders of design and functionality, these city gardens offer a fresh and quiet compliment to the vibrant intensity of city life. As you stroll through the neighborhood be sure to notice the architectural beauty and craftsmanship of the Victorian and early 20th century buildings within the Centre Park Historic District.

Tickets will also be available for $25 the day of the event at the tent in Centre Park located on the 700 block of Centre Avenue (Route 61) in Reading. Proper ID is required to consume alcohol. Tickets are limited.
