Berks Country Fest “Got Talent” Showcase
June 29 @ 6:30 pm - 10:30 pm
We’ve established an opportunity for local and regional musicians called Berks Country Fest “Got Talent” Showcase which we describe as follows: Berks Country Fest turns the spotlight on local and regional talent with an evening of entertainment called “Got Talent” Showcase. This showcase allows local and regional individuals an opportunity to perform in front of a live audience. Berks Country Fest and Berks Country, a weekly magazine in the Reading Eagle, are producing the event to highlight the very talented people right here in the Berks and surrounding regions. The showcase will be promoted and professionally produced. Who knows, maybe performing at the Berks Country Fest “Got Talent” Showcase could be just the thing to launch someone’s career as an entertainer!
The idea is to have an Opry-style, fast-paced showcase of talent in the 225 seat Oley Fair Centre, which is an indoor and air conditioned hall. Each musician will come up and perform for about 15 minutes, maybe more, depending on how the schedule needs to be worked out after all invited musicians are accounted for. Each performing musician will receive a $50.00 expense honorarium for participating, or up to $100.00 for a band. We will provide backline of basic drum kit, guitar amps, keyboard amp. Guitars and keys have to be brought by performers. Remuneration is based on the fact that this event is a talent showcase with the potential to expose participants to a group of talent buyers while providing extremely valuable multi-media exposure. At the same time, a portion of the ticket sales proceeds will go to benefit our “Ukes in the Schools” program through which we work with the non-profit Reading Musical Foundation, Meadowood Music and various regional school districts to buy ukuleles and give them to elementary school educators who work with the students to teach them about music on a uke rather than the traditional method with a recorder. Last year we were able to buy and give more than 40 ukuleles to elementary school music students! Your participation helps you and also countless young music students and the evening becomes a win-win for everyone.
We’re also going to invite talent buyers from the highly-popular Oley Fair, as well as talent buyers from other regional fairs, festivals and venues, so that they and the audience can see what the featured bands and musicians have to offer. The show will be heavily promoted with multi-media including social media, radio, newspaper, magazine, billboards and TV and will certainly be offer valuable marketing and exposure for the talent involved.
